An authentic Ikat fabric from our Maya Collection.
The Ikat is created using traditional methods. The yarns are bound by hand to create the pattern. It is then hand dyed in mostaza and when the binds are untied the patten appears. This gives a feathered edge to the design where the dye has seeped in at the edge of the binds. The yarn is then set onto a pedal loom and woven. We are working with a weaving cooperative in Guatemala to create this fabrics using traditional methods.
Fabric width 94cm wide, sold by the metre.
Dry clean only.
Due to the hand crafted characteristics there may be minor variations in shading and the placement of the pattern, all of which tell a part of this distinctive fabrics journey.
